In-House Writer
Position Overview
​
The in-house writers will be responsible, under the guidance of the Education Director, for the development, launch and subsequent running of the WCP online publication, ‘Oppose the Motion’. They will contribute articles to the publication on a regular basis, both individually and as a team. This is an excellent opportunity if you are seeking to develop your research and writing skills, and to have your work published. This position offers you experience in editorial and allows you to develop and exercise your leadership skills.

Your responsibilities as a Writer at WCP will include:
1. Contribute to the Oppose the Motion publications as part of our In-House Writers team by writing articles and collaborating on team articles about topics of interest relevant to the Club’s aims
​
2. Communicate with other writers to deliver cohesive articles on a fortnightly basis
​
3. Attend team meetings and pitch ideas for future articles
​
4. Keep up to date with current issues affecting women in commerce and politics
​
5. Assist in the ongoing running of the publication, including with the editing and publishing processes
​
6. Assist in reviewing, developing and editing external submissions
​
7. Working closely with the marketing team, contribute brief news summaries to the WCP newsletter
​
8. Assist with the editing and publishing of the Woman of the Week interviews

Keen interest in women’s/feminist issues, specifically issues affecting women studying and/or working in the fields of commerce and/or politics

Experience in writing or working for a publication is advantageous, but by no means essential
Estimated time commitment:

4 -5 hours per week
